I recently tried Gardënia, a beautiful and delicious hole in the wall restaurant down in West Village and I am Currently In love with it. As you walk their wood-paneled floors, your eye is directed to the skylight on the roof illuminating the hanging plants. The walls are lined with adorable pink tiles and everything makes the environment incredibly fresh and full of light.
Its cuisine is inspired by both Latin and Mediterranean flavors, and somehow they reach the perfect balance between yummy and hearty, yet health conscious food. Really, what's not to like? Did I mention they offer weekend brunch and a daily happy hour too?
I went for a late Saturday brunch with my best friend and truly had such a nice time. I ordered the fish tacos, which were so fresh and light yet filling and full of spices and flavors, along with the provençal fries which my strictly healthy friend could not resist from eating. She ordered the huevos rancheros, which looked equally delicious. While we didn't have time to order dessert, the table next to us ordered this huge bowl of yogurt accompanied by a tray of different fruits, homemade granola and agave, and although I obviously didn't try it, I'm already craving it and for sure ordering it next time I go.
Gardënia offers brunch, lunch, dinner and happy hour and it's a definite must if you're ever in the area!
