So I feel like I say this about every new Italian I try but I think this is definitely a new favorite!! I’d been wanting to go for a long time after hearing it has one of the best plates of chicken in NYC and I have to say, the place is not what I expected but in a good way! While I love Paola’s and Carbone, I loved the vibe of Barbuto because it has great ambiance (it was packed when I went), it’s more casual, but equally as amazing.
The appetizers were great and came so quick, we had the meatballs (best meatball I have ever had) and the bruschetta but instead of tomatoes it has eggplants which I love. After that, I ordered my favorite pasta plate, Bucatini All’Amatriciana and oh my god my family was literally fighting over it because of how good it was! Surprisingly, I still had space to eat more, and I just had to try the chicken, so I ordered it. Whoever said it was the best chicken in NYC was so right! It was perfectly cooked, not dry at all and super flavorful. Finally for dessert we ordered cheesecake which I had been craving for the longest time and it definitely satisfied that craving.
Also I loved the location! It’s 775 Washington Street so right around the Meatpacking District. I went with my family and what we did was go to the Whitney Museum first to see Carmen Herrera’s amazing exhibition and then we walked to Barbuto. It was such a nice night that after dinner we just kept walking up a little bit of Bleecker all the way to Flatiron! If it’s a nice night, I definitely recommend it and for sure try Barbuto!
