Best Places Around Canal Street
If you live in NYC, seeing a post with "best" and "Canal Street" in the same title may seem a little off. I'll admit, Canal Street has always turned me off, and I'm sure I'm not the only New Yorker who feels the same. Every time I have to get off at that station, walking around there (most likely to get dim sum) I just get so overwhelmed. It's so packed, it's not pretty and it's just in general an area people like to avoid. Yet lately I've found myself having to get off at that station or going to places so close to it more and more. After all, it's the street that divides two of NYC's hottest and most important neighborhoods, SoHo and Tribeca (which stands for Triangle Below Canal).
When I was searching for apartments downtown, my dad sent me a really good article all about the development and basically gentrification of Canal Street, especially in terms of fashion. Now, I'm not defending gentrification, but it really was a very interesting article and definitely made me think twice about Canal Street. Being that I've been passing by it so much lately and inspired by that article, I decided to write a post about my favorite places or just good places I've been to that happen to be around (or on) Canal Street.

Nickel & Diner
I recently went to this place for brunch and it was really great! It's basically a modernized diner, very pretty and modern but that old-school vibe still present.I had the hardest time choosing what to eat, they have a really good menu and the food was just as yummy as it sounded.
Glossier
I somehow manage to mention Glossier in almost every post! You guys know I'm obsessed, it's the best, prettiest showroom, I don't think I need to say much else.
Jing Fong
I don't know if I've mentioned that I'm obsessed with dim sum. My roommate and I last year would wake up early on Saturdays, take the train into GCT from Bronxville and then the subway down to Canal just to get dim sum. I've tried a couple, but this is definitely my favorite. Don't be scared when you have to go up electric stairs into a huge ballroom or by the fact that you are likely the only one non-Asian; that is exactly what you are looking for!
Canal Street Market
This place has everything from food, to clothes, to books and accessories! Even if you're not buying anything, it's a great place to walk around, see what they have to offer and discover new things.
The Blond
If you are looking for a place that's swanky, trendy and chic all in one, look no further than The Blond. Right by Le Coucou (which is so good) and 11 Howard Hotel (yes, the one with Anna Delvey). It's not new but it'll always be a hotspot for trendy millennial and celebrities alike.
