B Currently In: Gitano
If I was already obsessed with this restaurant before even going, I don't even know what I am now that I've been! I finally got around to going to New York's arguably most talked about restaurant of the Summer, Gitano. Let me just start off by saying this, it was a four and a half hour lunch.
Originally it's from Tulum, but it just opened about a month ago in the city and it'll be here until late October. While the distance between NYC and Tulum is quite a bit, the second you step into this locale you are automatically transported to Tulum. Literally an oasis in the middle of the city, it takes a couple of seconds to get used to being surrounded by so many palms but also high-rises simultaneously. But it was the coolest "escape" on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
The menu is only a preview but it has the perfect amount of things and all the essentials, we literally got everything, minus maybe two things. Being that it is a trendy, fun place, naturally the food was slightly overpriced, I'll admit; but it was definitely great. I really did love everything, so if you want to treat yourself, definitely try it all, but honestly what I see myself doing the most is going for drinks (which will cost you the same as any other nice bar, and they are worth it), getting the guacamole and quesadillas (which were extra good) and just have a really nice time in this fun "beach" in the middle of the city. The service was really good and attentive, cool people, as the afternoon rolled by it became more and more crowded with a very varied crowd (in a good way) and it definitely will become my new spot to hang out, get drinks, and of course, conveniently feel like I'm in Tulum!
