B Currently In: Ferdi
Since even before I came to Paris back in August, I had always heard of the restaurant Ferdi. I didn’t know much, just that it was really famous, celebrities like Kimye and Bella Hadid loved it and that it was super hard to get a table. Of course this is the type of restaurant I’m drawn to, right? From this I had gathered that it was a super trendy and fancy restaurant, very chic and exclusive.
While it is chic, it’s not in the way you’d think. The place is super casual and very small, practically a hole in the wall. It’s French chic. Nothing particular about the decor, except of course all the memorabilia, toy cars and plush toys lining the walls.
Ferdi has an extensive menu, but what it’s really known for is the Ferdi burger. People all over the world rave it is the best burger in all of Paris. Considering burgers are one of my favorite foods ever, I knew I had to try it. To get a reservation, you need to text them and if you are lucky you get a table. Even on days like Sundays and Mondays they are often booked until 10:30pm.
Now I’ll give you my honest opinion about the famous Ferdi burger. Does it really live up to the hype? Is it really worth it? I think it is definitely worth trying at least once. From what I’ve read, it seems like the chef has aimed to create a gourmet version of a BicMac. The burger is not out of this world, but it’s just a really, really good burger. The thing is that the bun is great and fluffy, the meat is good quality and perfectly cooked, it’s combined with chopped onions and pickles to add more flavor plus topped off with an awesome sauce. It’s small and simple, but when all of these good, high-quality ingredients are put together they really make a very yummy and enjoyable burger. The burger is $15 which isn’t cheap but I understand it and you can add bacon and/or an egg if you’d like.
I would definitely recommend Ferdi to anyone who comes to Paris. It has become touristy and a little over hyped, but honestly the place is super cool, the people are nice, they were playing great Latin music and if you’re a burger lover, what’s not to love?
