My Secret to Traveling Carry-On
My family loves to travel and we’ve done amazing trips. My family also loves deciding to travel carry-on to three week road trips through Europe or making my brother and I pack two weeks worth of Winter sweaters in a carry-on. When they first told me that it was more practical to fly that way and that I had to go with just a carry-on suitcase and my purse I freaked. Not only do I love clothes but I hate to outfit repeat and always overpack, so this was definitely not ideal. But in the end it worked out and I’ve gone on to traveling 10 days all over California with just a carry-on and a big purse, and soon I’ll do the same for our big trip to Japan and London, which is 18 days.
You’re probably wondering how did I go from freaking out to being completely fine with it or how did I do it to begin with. Well, we have a little cheat that I’m going to share with you: the A. Saks Expandable Duffle. Of course, I meticulously plan my outfits so I can mix and match, plus my dad is really good at organizing a suitcase, but I could never go without this duffle bag, we don’t travel without it!
These duffles are lifesavers, they’re huge and can fit so much when expanded, but you can collapse it as flat as a folded light sweater so it doesn’t take any space! We take one or two (for Japan and London four) duffles and that’s where we pack all of the dirty clothes and all the shopping. Now I don’t have to worry about taking that many outfits because I know I’ll end up with new clothes that I’d rather wear. I recommend this for anyone going on a long vacation, it may sound crazy and impossible but trust me that this duffle makes traveling carry-on a piece of cake. So while we might go to our destination carry on, we definitely don’t come back with just that.
